CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Touch Screen Tests

Pearson Vue HS&E test centres closed their doors last week in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. CITB has developed a free app so that employers can run their own in-house interim testing to help them determine if an employee is safe to work on their site. The app will be available to download from app stores shortly.

The app will give breathing space to employers during the temporary closure of all Pearson Vue HS&E test centres and the suspension of testing throughout the Independent Test Centre (ITC) network, however please note that information on its relevance connected to a CSCS, CPCS or NPORS card etc. has not yet been declared – we will keep you updated as more news arrives.

The CSCS Card Scheme

CSCS are currently only accepting online applications. Delays are expected due to home working but CSCS has released a statement urging employers to take the current climate into consideration.

The CPCS Card Scheme

For those unable to renew or upgrade cards due to not being able to complete their HSE Test or Renewal Test, CPCS is providing the ability to apply for an Emergency CPCS Card that would be valid for 12 months.

This card will also be available for individuals on a Red card that is expiring and have been prevented from completing their Vocational Qualification due to the COVID-19 situation. Proof of qualification registration is necessary, however if this is with Cskills Awards/NOCN then this can be checked digitally without the applicant needing to provide anything.

The CITB Levy

CITB is examining a range of options to help employers with the Levy. This is a complex issue and a top priority. CITB will do everything they can to support industry.

The CITB Board met this week and have decided to suspend all Levy payments for 3 months.

NPORS has released a statement asking employers to take the current climate into consideration, as the Health Safety and Environmental touch screen test is unavailable due to the closure of training centres.
