Academy Changing Lives
Today Sheffield-based employers and dignitaries were joined by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Tony Downing to celebrate the official opening of the Sheffield Skills Academy.
The Academy, which is part of The Skills People Group, offers a wide range of construction courses that enable candidates to learn valuable new digital and practical skills that both address the skills gap in the construction sector, and provide the course delegates with the opportunities to progress into well-paid jobs with Construction employers.
Kunde Kinteh, who recently completed a Introduction to Construction course, addressed the dignitaries, telling them: "This course has changed my life. Before I attended this course I knew nothing about construction, I now have a CSCS card and am going on to do a Diploma in Construction Multi-Skills".
Sheffield Lord Mayor Tony Downing officially opened the Sheffield Skills Academy, telling the audience: "It’s great that Sheffield and the wider community have access to this fantastic new training facility, it’s clear to see how it will benefit both local residents and employers".
The Sheffield Skills Academy is based in Clay Street, Attercliffe, and offers a range of construction courses which are Government-funded to anybody who is aged 19+ and is unemployed. If you are interested in joining a course you can find more details on our Sheffield Skills Academy Facebook page or attend one of our enrolment days on December 2nd or 16th or by calling 0114 251 3977.
