Who this course is for

This qualification is designed for individuals who want to carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on electrical equipment. Delegates should be familiar with electrical systems and the hazards associated with electricity.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Photographic ID. (Failure to do so will result in not being able to sit the exam)
  • Current IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • Scientific calculator
    (not part of a smartphone application)
  • Note-taking material (recording devices not allowed)

Successful candidates will be able to safely carry out Portable Appliance Testing on electrical equipment.

Entry Requirements

It is important that all delegates have a good understanding of spoken and written English and have the operating experience as described in the ‘Introduction’ of this course overview. Candidates must have passed the CSCS H&S touch screen test within two years of taking the CPCS technical test.
