About this course

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Construction) – Solid qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Solid Plasterer within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

The Rule of Combination (RoC) below specifies the combination of units that need to be achieved for the individual to be awarded the qualification.

To achieve this qualification a minimum of 87 credits need to be attained. This comprises 78 credits from the 6 units in the Mandatory Group, plus a minimum of 9 credits from at least 1 unit in the Optional Group. L/616/3845 is an additional unit that can be taken as part of this qualification. This unit will be included on the certificate but will not count towards the achievement of the qualification.

  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace

  • Producing internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace

  • Applying solid render to background surfaces and producing finishes in the workplace

  • Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the workplace

Optional Units

  • Laying sand and cement screeds in the workplace

  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard in the workplace

  • Installing direct bond dry lining systems in the workplace

  • Applying projection plaster and render, and maintaining equipment in the workplace

  • Producing cement castings in the workplace
