About this course

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Fenestration Installation qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work in Fenestration Installation within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.

To achieve this qualification a minimum of 37 credits need to be attained. This comprises of 15 credits from the Mandatory Group, plus 22 credits from units within the Optional Group. 

When selecting units from the Optional Group:

A minimum of 11 credits must be attained from units Y/600/8425, J/600/8422, F/600/8418, A/600/7638, A/600/8420

A minimum of 8 credits must be attained from units A/600/8269, T/600/8416

A minimum of 3 credits from units H/600/8430, A/600/8434, K/600/8445 

Mandatory Units

  • Communicating and Working with Others in the Glass and Related Working Environments

  • Identify and Confirm Installation Requirements in Glass and Related Work

  • Locate, Transport, Handle and Position and Materials and Components in Fenestration Installation

  • Maintain Health and Safety in the Fenestration Installation Working Environment

Optional Units

  • Install Glass and / or Panels into Windows and Doors

  • Prepare and Position Window and Door Units Ready for Installation

  • Prepare and Shape Fenestration Installation Products and Materials

  • Prepare the Site, Equipment and Tools for Fenestration Installation

  • Remove Existing Windows and Doors and Prepare Apertures

  • Install Conservatories

  • Install Windows and Doors

  • Maintain / Repair Windows and Doors or Conservatories

  • Post Windows, Doors or Conservatories Installation Activity

  • Understanding the Building Regulations in the Fenestration Industry
